Funded by the First Nation Education Initiative, Inc., this project aimed to evaluate the implementation of a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program in elementary schools in three pilot First Nation communities in New Brunswick.
In collaboration with participating communities and school principals and SEL champions in each school, our team examined school-level and community-level experiences and impacts as the SEL program was implemented in K-6 classrooms. This work sought to fully understand:
– the impact of SEL on children, teachers, and school climate,
– how the program was/is being used/enhanced within context,
– how was/is SEL being integrated into the school and the broader community, and
– what are the potential long-term impacts of SEL?
